Whirlpool Oven Element: Cost & When It’s Not Worth It
$170–390 total (shop) · $33–105 DIY part
Part prices $33–105 on eBay (checked 2026-11-04) · shop total from published rates ($70–130 service call, $50–125/hr) · estimates, not quotes
It’s usually worth fixing. An element dies visibly (blistered, split, or a dead cool section), the swap is two screws and a terminal block, and the part prices mid-range rather than cheap. Weigh the whole range only if several elements go at once.
⚠️Unplug the range: element terminals are live at 240V. Photograph the wire positions before pulling the old element, since the terminal block keeps them ordered. If the element looks intact, meter it before buying; a failed control switch mimics a dead element.
